RT-N56U rebooting by itself

tojuli

New Around Here
I've had this router for a few days now and I'm having one problem with it: It keeps rebooting by itself. This happens maybe once a day but I haven't noticed any particular time or uptime when this happens.

Has anyone had any similar issues? I'm running the latest official firmware (3.0.0.4.318) and I was wondering if I should try some older version or Padavan's custom firmware. I updated to the latest firmware as soon as I got the device so I don't know whether it would have worked better with the original firmware.

Then again this could be a hardware issue as well, maybe overheating or something?

u can try both padavan's 3.0.3.1-027 or the asus' beta 3.0.0.4-206. almost every experienced rt-n56u user here dont use the 318.

I'm using 318 firmware.

I'm on day 9 since my last user-initiated reboot. I went over two weeks before that. All my reboots have been user initiated - the router has never rebooted on its own.

So, maybe it is a hardware problem.

I've had this router for almost a couple of years with no issues, until... I upgraded to Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.334 about a week ago. Now every day at the same time, it reboots itself. I believe it's around the time I did the upgrade. Any ideas?

8 days and counting for me. All log messages are DHCP-related. The only time my unit reboots is when I initiate it or we lose power.

I updated to 3.0.0.4.342 10 days ago on a Sunday and since then the router crashed twice, each time on a Wednesday at about the same time, corresponding indeed to the time I upgraded the Firmware.
This first time I had to re-enter the whole configuration, the second time, a reboot did the trick and the router ran again.
I have the router since about 10 Months now and had it running continuously with the original Firmware 1.0.1.7c without any problem... Thinking about a downgrade if it happens again... But I will wait some more time and see if it happens next week again...
