It is a little weird how 3.0.0.4.374.4422 worked fine with IPv6 and a static address, yet 3.0.0.4.374.4561 did not.

Are you manually entering it, or are you obtaining it automatically from your ISP? I saw only one change in the 4561 code that was related to IPv6, which was when you had it set to "Manual".

2ndly i was a bit confused as to how to switch off the blinking yellow exclamation mark regarding the changed ftp setting. i have figured a way out to turn it off and anyone wanting to get rid off it can simply follow the below steps:

1) goto USB Application --> Servers Center --> FTP Share
2) then click 'Share without account' button and then 'ok'. blinking exclamation gone! and if u want to keep this setting then again press 'Share with account' and then 'ok'.

Voila! no more blinking exclamation marks.

I think you're kind of missing the point. It was blinking because you had FTP server enabled with anonymous login. In other words, everyone on the planet was able to see the files on your USB drive.

Ok. But I didn't get the flashing exclamation and my FTP server was disabled when I looked. I didn't have to do anything with FTP. Maybe it's because I reset to defaults before I even looked. I don't know. All I can tell you is I didn't have to do any of those steps you wrote because my FTP server was disabled and I didn't have a flashing exclamation.

With 4561, Asus automatically switches FTP to sharing with an account if it was previously set to allow anonymous access. There's a slight glitch in the mechanics however as there is no simple way to dismiss that warning that the router had just done that following your flash.

Going to the FTP page, re-enabling Sharing without account, saving, then RE-DISABLING it and saving again will indeed take care of the notification issue.

If for some reason you do need anonymous access, make sure you are aware of what this implies, and have only files you DO wish to share with the rest of the world on your USB disk.

That's what the warning you got was about - that the firmware had automatically disabled anonymous access for you.

FWIW before I installed .4561 I already had FTP disabled and share without account disabled and got the flashy exclamation point, and I had to toggle the share button multiple times to get it to go away.

On a different topic, I hit "refresh" on the client list about 10 minutes ago, and it's still stuck on "searching". Oh well.

I just went back to .276 on my N66U and N66W until the AC87U comes out. Every Asus FW after .276 has given me horrible wi-fi including the last few firmwares.

A little reminder: older versions are NOT recommended due to various security fixes over time.

And I will not be so sure to go for the RT-AC87U right away...
To have benefit of the extreme features (4 spatial streams and much more), your clients must support this as well.
Also realise that developments of 802.11ac will continue for a while.
The AC87U is only halfway of what the 802.11ac standard offers (8 spatial streams, 160 MHz bandwidth, 256 QAM), again...not only the routers shall get enhanced, the clients as have to keep pace as well.
Asus just very recently introduced DFS for the RT-AC68U with version 3.0.0.4.374.4561, so it is all still quite experimental.
Also the RT-AC87U will go through a firmware learning curve.

While I agree the router hardware will get much better over time, I don't agree the client side hardware will. Anything that needs to be tweaked can be done via a driver update there.

All the client needs to do is be able to negotiate AC class connections. After that, the router needs to do all the physical work.

Thanks dude. This is why I don't understand why people ditched their RT-N66U for the AC68U so fast. Not worth it IMO.

He is seeing the same error in his system log: radvd[702]: prefix length should be 64 for br0

I believe he's contacted you about the problem.

There's numerous issues in recent Asus releases in regard to IPv6. Saintdev and another contributor has been fixing a few of these lately, Asus has also been fixing some of them in newer releases. Consider IPv6 as still being a work-in-progress in general. It seems that not two ISPs are handling IPv6 the same way, and each one has its own specifics.

Hi all, I saw the new firmware, and have flashed it to my router.
But now im getting very frequent disconnections from the net, but the router log does not show anything.
Is this a know issue? anything I ought to do after an update of the firmware?

I'm also getting disconnected from the internet, but it only appears to affect Windows wireless. I have an Acer Vista laptop from work and my wife has a Samsung Windows 7 laptop from work, and they are both affected, but only since last week's firmware upgrade - I've been running the router since October without any previous problems.

I also own a wired Windows 7 desktop, a Panasonic television (connected wirelessly), a Squeezebox Touch (wired), an Android phone and an Android tablet, and I haven't experienced the problem with them (although admittedly I don't use them for such long periods). I found that when my laptop reports that the connection is "local only" or "limited access", my phone still works normally. I can sometimes, but not always, access the router home page and my NAS when I lose the internet connection.

I've tried a factory reset and manually re-entering my settings, and although that solved the persistent flashing of the yellow exclamation mark at the top of the router home page telling me that I needed to change my settings (which I'd already done), it hasn't fixed the disconnection problem.

My RT-N66U is rock steady without reboots.
I believe the reboots are typical for RT-AC68U and probably under certain conditions (depending on the user configuration).
