Let me start off by saying I have the N66R (Best Buy's N66U). I'm running firmware version 3.0.0.4.354. My Xbox is the old Elite edition with the external Wireless N Network Adapter (Black one with 2 antennas)
Lately I've been having issues with my Xbox being disconnected and when I go to test my connection via my Xbox, it says that the router isn't giving it an IP address.
I notice this happens a lot when I'm browsing the auction part of Madden 25. When I'm bidding for items there is a lot of refreshing and connecting to the EA servers. What happens is it disconnects me from the EA servers and a short time after that I get disconnected from Xbox Live. When I go to test my connection it gives me the IP Address Error, saying it can't get an IP address from the router. The only way to get back online is power cycle the Xbox or the Router. Sometimes this happens after being online for hours and others just after logging in. I know it's not the network adapter because I bought a new one to rule things out two nights ago and got the same problem right away.
About a month ago I was having issues downloading large files on my Xbox, the connection would drop about every 10-15% but this was solved with a router power cycle and has not been an issue since.
I have 1 desktop, 2 laptops, 2 android phones, and 1 android tablet on the network that have not had any issues at all.
Is there some sort of security setting on the router causing the disconnects with my Xbox? Like I said before when I'm bidding there is a lot of refreshing going on and reconnecting to the EA servers. I figure there might be a security setting or something that does not like all the reconnecting going on. I never had this issue with my old router which is why I'm very confused.
If anyone has any idea of what is going on or any suggestions please let me know. I would really appreciate it
