RT-N66U as AP + Fortigate & Cisco Switch issue

Daniel-san

New Around Here
Good day gentleman, i'm new here so please bare with me.

I currently have a Fortigate 110C as my router/firewall.

This bad boy has 8 100MB/s LAN ports & 2 1000MB/s WAN ports. - This isn't ideal for me but it works because I don't use it as a switch I have a cisco 3750 that I use to feed my house with it's 24Ports of gigabit goodness.

following me so far?

I've replaced my old POS monoprice 2.4ghz Access Point with this new fancy Asus RT-N66U because my new house has over saturated wifi and I wanted 5GHz.

anyways, my issue is that for my Asus AP to actually have internet; it needs to be plugged in my fortigate router in a 100MB port. if I plugged it into my cisco 3750; it just doesn't work. I can't ping the AP anymore, and if I'm connected to it's wifi - no internet :(

I don't get it.. any other device that I plug in my switch works fine.

my cisco is configured extremely simple, my first 12 ports are all configured:
interface range g1/0/2 - 12
switchport access vlan2
switchport mode access
no shutdown

can someone help me out??

also.. I find it strange that the the AP does work (in the fortigate) it needs to be connected via the WAN port. that seems odd to me.

please help.

so turns out i'm a newb.. and I didn't save (wr) my configs, and with the help of bad timing I thought it wsn't working.

but in the end, with persavirance I did get it working.

originaly, it wasn't because I used the GUI interface on the cisco switch to "tell" my ports that "desktops" were plugged in them. little did I know that programmed my ports with pre-defined macros and added security settings that I didn't care for.

but after I removed all that, and just enabled my ports with: "switchport access vlan2
switchport mode access" it worked.
