RT-N66U Connectivity Issue

Tarlach

New Around Here
I have an odd problem. I use a Foscam IP camera in my home network. Previously, I was using an old Buffalo 802.11b/g AP running DD-WRT for it as I used a 5GHz only router as my primary and the camera doesn't support 5GHz.

Then I decided to upgrade my primary router to an Asus RT-N66U and got rid of the Buffalo AP. Problem is my camera doesn't connect to the wireless network. The Asus router is set to auto for wireless mode and I've tried with b/g protection on and off. I don't have any other devices with problems (phones, Nintendo DS / Wii / Wii U, 802.11g laptop, etc.). I'm using WPA2 Personal w/ AES.

Any ideas?

Change your setting on camera to TKIP instead of AES. Even if you set to AES on router, you need to set it to TKIP on the camera.

The default IP address scope/range of your Asus router is 192.168.1.x

If your camera has a static IP address not in that scope, it won't connect. So you'll have to change the camera's IP address to be in the same range as Asus.

In other words, if your camera has a static IP address of something like 192.168.11.145, change it to 192.168.1.145.

If it still won't connect, try temporarily disabling wireless security on the router. Then try it.

Remember to turn your wireless security back on.
