RT-N66U stuck in CFE miniWeb Server

I performed a 30/30/30 reset before doing a firmware upgrade and now I can't get it out of the miniWeb Server.

If I try installing firmware from here it says it's successful and then nothing else happens.

When I power cycle it, it boots up into the miniWeb Server and if I leave it turned off for a while it still boots up into the miniWeb Server.

Any ideas?

Don't do any more 30-30-30 resets. You are putting it in to recovery mode.

Some people have reported that it takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour for firmware to take when using recovery mode. My advice is to wait 1 hour.

I only did one 30/30/30 reset tonight and it has been stuck in recovery ever since.

I have used the router's recovery mode before to go from a Merlin SDK6 to SDK5 build and it worked fine and quickly.

I am now trying to go from SDK5 to the latest stable SDK6 build.

My last attempt has lasted around 30 minutes so far, so I will continue to wait.

Right, but 30-30-30 reset method requires you to turn on router with reset button held. That also happens to be the procedure for putting the router in to recovery mode. 30-30-30 reset is not compatible with asus router nor is it recommended.

How do you get the router to boot up into its current firmware when you get into this situation?

You got google?

Hi,
I suggest you to power off router, wait for couple mins. Then hold the reset button and
power up, after couple seconds, release the reset button. Go to finish a coffee &/or snack and come back, see what happened. 30-30-30 reset is carry over from olden days(the days of Linksys WRT54G time). New routers don't really need them. I VERY seldom do 30-30-30 reset these days. When powering up/down devices, two things to keep in mind. Powering on it takes little time for the power supply to settle down and send master clear signal to the circuit to put it in known/expected state. Powering off, all residual current from the circuit has to bleed off which also takes little time. Typical example, when you power on a TV, does the audio/video start right away? My AV receiver takes upto a minute or more to start working.
