RT-N66U VPN problems

I'm running stock firmware. I have the vpn feature set up, and I can connect fine and browse local resources. However, I am unable to browse the outside web. I'm aware I can set "Use default gateway on remote network", but what I really want is to route all my internet traffic through it.
