RTN66U Issues - Please help!

Perdition

New Around Here
Hello all,

I've had my RT-N66U since October of 2012 and this past week I decided enable Quality of Service in hopes of optimizing the connection for my gaming pc. I applied QoS via the web gui and the update was applied however I lost all internet connectivity. No amount of resetting the router or clearing the NVRAM would get the connection to come back. I even tried updating the firmware. Basically, as of late, the router appears to be stuck in Rescue mode. I have access to the mini web interface 192.168.1.1. I have uploaded new firmware, watched the router successfully reboot, only to go back to the slow flashing blue light (rescue mode).

I've tried so many different combinations of the 30-30-30 reset and clearing various settings I don't even know where to begin.

What should I try next? I'm using my trusty WRT-54G in the meantime but it's not the same. Thanks in advance for your help.

Strange story...
Hard reset of the router should wipe out all configuration data and revert the router to factory defaults.
Hard reset:
  1. Power up the router.
  2. Hold the reset button pressed more than 5 seconds.
  3. Access the router at the default IP address 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin
The router webinterface should now be the installation wizard, if not than something went seriously wrong.
Start with a minimal amount of settings, only those the wizard ask for and try how this works out.
Do NOT install an old backup configuration file.

Don't do any more 30-30-30 resets. Just read the manual to learn how to reset or read what wouterv wrote. When you do a 30-30-30 reset, you are inadvertently putting it in to recovery mode.

Read the manual on asus website. Same place you got latest firmware.
