Samba restarting / Adisk inaccessible

Hello,

ASUS RT-BE88u 3006.102.4 (I know 102.5 is now out)

In my router logs are showing the samba server constantly starting and stopping. .

AFAIK I am not using the samba server for anything? I am not doing any file sharing with my router nor have VPN working. I am using a USB device to store traffic data (/mnt/STORE_N_GO/) however.

Also odd that if I go to USB Application / AI Disk I get a blank screen with no controls. All other selections from USB Application work. I assume this is related and the place to configure the samba server?

Ideas? What can I do to fix this and to be able to access that screen?

Thanx

To confirm, you have the Enable Share option disabled under USB Application > Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk?
And you also have all the options (Cloud Sync, Smart Access, AiCloud Sync) under AiCloud 2.0 disabled as well?
PS: Are you using any addon scripts?

USB Application > Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk does not exist in this version of Merlin
USB Application > AiDisk does instead, but as I said when I try to go there I get a blank screen and no controls as I should I cannot check the rest of the things you mention.

Can you navigate to USB Application > Servers Center > USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk
Good catch,

Enable Share was on in Network place. I turned it off, but I still see the same Samba Server constantly trying to turn on. Hopefully I didn't break my mounting/logging of traffic analyzer.
I think I need to solve the why I can't get into AiDisk. Why it gives a blank screen.

ok now after ColinTaylor fix and a reboot I can sometimes get into AiDisk, sometimes not. It's not stable.
Everything as far as I can tall in USB Application and AiCloud is turned off.
Still don't see however a Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk

Minor typo. On a RT-AX86U Pro running 3006.102.x it is: USB Application > Servers Center > USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk. Example of the page attached. Under the BE series it is possible the GUI layout may be different.

Yes ColinTaylor listed that path.
It was turned on for some odd reason. But turning it off did not resolve the issue. I've looked though all spaces in that area and everything seems to be off.

I'm starting to think I need to update the firmware, wipe the NVRAM and start over as there is some odd behavior like the instability of opening the AiDisk page.

If you were using AiCloud and any of the features listed under it, note that AiCloud was the likely attack vector recently. While recent firmware closes vulnerabilities if one was already compromised it might explain weirdness in the GUI.

If one thinks they've been infected they should flash the latest firmware for their router then perform a hard factory reset followed by a manual configuration, do not import a saved router.cfg file. Disconnect any attached USB drive before flashing any firmware, and do not reattach until router is verified as operating correctly.

Thanks. I was odd that USB Application > Servers Center > USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk
Was turned on. I don't see why it would have been as I was not using any AiCloud type or remote features. So very odd. Maybe that switch defaults to on?

But on the other hand it looks like the issue you mention was from late last year and was long patched?
This is brand new router, I installed about 2 months ago with 3006.102.4 so I think firmware from after this issue.
I configured and set it up and it seemed to be working fine until Monday when it started dropping out constantly. While trying to figure that out (Still in the me vs ISP blame game phase of that), I discovered this SAMBA issue. Maybe it's related, maybe not. Very odd either way.

I'm going to be out off office the rest of the week so I will get back to this thread when I return.

My plan, if I can't figure it out, is to do what you say, update firmware, wipe it and hand enter all the parameters again.

was odd that USB Application > Servers Center > USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk
That setting is active by default after a reset. Bad show by Asus. Maybe that could be changed to the reverse @RMerlin?

Yes, it defaults to enabled/on. The user would need to disable it.
