I wasn't intending to give you an assignment Scribe works fine now, and I agree people should play on their own with the new features before you change what ain't broken.

Yeah, no worries. I know you didn't, and that's not how I read it at all. Based on many of your previous posts, it's clear that you like to play and tinker with syslog-ng, logrotate, and other tools, so you seem genuinely curious to see how things work under the hood. More power to you!!

My reply was intended to simply clarify my perspective and explain how I see things going forward.

The only other issue I see now is with logrotate on one of my mesh nodes that I had tried
uninstall scribe,reboot and reinstall scribe. When logrotate runs from cron I get the following error.

Would you mind installing and running the latest development branch versions of Scribe (v3.2.12) and uiScribe (v1.4.14) to see if the behavior changes?

If interested, use the following commands:

/jffs/scripts/scribe develop
/jffs/scripts/scribe forceupdate

And

/jffs/scripts/uiScribe develop
/jffs/scripts/uiScribe forceupdate

I installed the develop version of scribe only as it is a mesh node so there is no uiScribe currently.

syslog-ng.conf syntax check ... okay!

scribe installed version: v3.2.12 (develop)
scribe GitHub version: v3.2.12 (develop)
scribe is up to date!
