New Around Here
hi.
i'm having some trouble with a newly purchased seagate blackarmor 420 NAS. i've done a heap of digging on this and it's a permissions issue that both seagate nor apple want to take responsibility for. for the problem descriptions see this post (not by me - same issue though).

i've come to the conclusion that it isn't fixable, so am going to return the drive for one that allows afp connection, and hopefully it will fix the problem.
can anyone help with recommendations for a replacement brand. i have been told that qnap are pretty good, and it looks like they support afp connection, and also have netatalk installed.
any more suggestions, or a fix for the problem even?!
thx
