While I know that lots of SNBForum users practically detest the Seagate NAS product line, I've had this incredibly dependable old NAS220 for a LONG time... a VERY long time... and it continues to work like my old 4 cylinder 1948 Jeep.. (fix this old sweetheart with a pair of pliers and screwdriver, most often.. Or the occasional monkey wrench...).
When our FreeNAS "BYO" storage system needed some significant rebuilding (and because I didn't want to lose anything from the shares on the FreeNAS box) I simply created a couple of shared folders on the NAS220 and then copied the contents of a couple of folders from the FreeNAS box to this old NAS220 (and I suppose I should also say that the only thing I've ever had to do to this old beast was swap out the pair of original 1 TB disks with a pair of 2TB disks about four years ago. Simple and easy...).
Now that I've finished rebuilding my FreeNAS box this past month, I've simply deleted these shares after all this data had been re-copied back to the FreeNAS system... But for the first time ever, one of these folders I created simply cannot be deleted from the proffered list of shared folders. When I actually examine the list of shares via the web interface to the NAS220, this folder is not shown (nor should it be, since I deleted this via the web interface), but it still appears when I 'surf' my local network and attempt to examine the contents (but of course it is inaccessible because this super-stupid OS is no longer aware of it now...).
I have no doubt someone else has experienced a similar situation, and I was curious if there were any resolution they might have found (or not) but ostensibly I'm just gonna factory restore and format the 2TB 'mirror' and start it all up again..
This is more of 'just a curiosity' than anything even remotely 'earthshaking', so it ain't no big thing 'cuz I'm going to 'blow it all away' anyway... I was just curious... But ultimately it is the FreeNAS box that I depend on anyway...
