Slow Itunes downloads when connected to Router.

New Around Here
Hello.

I have been having a weird problem, at first I was putting the blame on my ISP. I was using a Cable Modem and a Router (a Linksys WRT310N) to provide Internet Access to my devices. Also I have a UNIFI AP Pro AccessPoint and a NETGEAR WN2000RPT Wireless Range Extender to provide WIFI Coverage wherever I need.

My ISP is from Mexico - CABLEMAS with 20Mbps down/ 1Mbps up.

With this setup I started to get some problems while using YouTube (lots of buffering) either by using my computer and Worst of all while using my Smart TV, and the Neo TV MAX.

The same happened with Itunes, any download that I made (Movies, Apps, etc...) were downloading at an average of 60KBps per Item (Usually in Itunes you can download a Max of 3 Items at the same time, so it was a total of around 180 KBps and sometimes peaking at 400 KBps (Really slow considering the Bandwidth)

Anyway, Like I said, I blamed the ISP until I started doing some tests. First case as described on Wireless, Then on Ethernet directly to the router (Same result), Then unplugging the AccessPoint and turning of the range extender and pulling out all the cables on the router with the exception of one cable for my laptop for tests (And it was the same result)

Just for some background... Torrents (Full bandwidth) , Web Surfing, Web Downloads and Online Gaming worked fine.

Anyway, the last test I did was to unplug the router and connect my laptop directly to the modem and Voila, Itunes was working at full speed, 2.3 MBps downloads and no more buffering for Youtube. But as soon as I connected my router, everything was the same as before.

So after tinkering with my router, installing dd-wrt on it and some other stuff that didn't give me any good results for me, I decided to buy a new Router ->the Asus RT-N66U.

The thing is that, It didn't solve my problem. It behaves the same as my old router with one exception.

As soon as I put some rules and enabled QoS. Youtube started to work really smooth with no buffering (Almost).

But for Itunes it is the same, I cannot top my download speed, it just downloads at 60-80 KBps per Item. I mean, if there is only one item downloading it will just stay downloading at around 60 KBps but if there are more, the others will add to that number (So weird). Anyway, all my tests have been done with my Macbook Pro, but the thing is. Why do I get So Much Different results while downloading directly from the Modem?, by doing that I can Top my Bandwidth while using Itunes.

Is it the router that is limiting my bandwidth, is it the NAT? Do Itunes Servers have a special set of rules that detect that you are behind a Router with FW/ NAT/etc. and limits your bandwidth? (By the way I have disabled my firewall, I have put my computer in DMZ and I get the same crappy results, the only thing that works is plugin my computer directly to the modem).

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much background as posible.
Thank you.

BTW - Youtube and Itunes Movies are in HD. 1080p
-Using Merlin's latest build As of Now- Same results in Itunes.

Make sure you use the DNS automatically allocated by your ISP and not manually-configured DNS (such as OpenDNS). This will ensure that your DNS queries will be pointed at the closest download server (not sure if Apple uses geolocating for the iTunes download, I suspect they do).

Alternatively, you could also try using a different DNS server just to see if you get better results. Try either the Level 3 DNS (4.2.2.2) or Google's (8.8.8.8). OpenDNS does not very well with Asus wrt due to their NXDOMAIN fudging.
