Smoke detector AP upside down

Has someone tried a Zyxel NWA1123-NI (or any other smoke detector like AP) upside down? I don't want to mount it on the ceiling. Instead, it should be placed on a cabinet upside down.

Have you experienced any performance degration or any other problems?

I'd think that the antenna(s?) in this kind of package would be a normal patch antenna. Those have a radiation pattern that similar to a semi-circle. Should be OK so long as the AP's "face" is towards the client WiFi devices.. That could be ceiling or wall facing the intended coverage area.
