SOLVED: Asus RT-N66U and Synology Media Server

Hi Forum,

just got myself a new Asus RT-N66U, replacing my old Asus WL500gpV2.

I have the latest Merlin-Firmware on the box.

Everythings works OK so far and I'm quite happy with that hardware.

There is just one thing, since I replaced the router, I can't access the LAN-attached media server (DLNA) on my Synology DS213+ anymore, neither via LAN-cable nor wirelessly.

To make it clear: I DON'T want to access the media server via Internet through the router, I just want to acces the media server on the LAN!

Thank you very much for any hints on that!

Can you clarify what exactly you are trying to do? how do you try to access the media server? do you access DS213+ itself?

I ran into this once, do you have jumbo frames enabled on router ?
You should have same setting on your nas as your n66. I enabled jumbo frames at 9k on my gigabit lan.

Another thing to check is if you are connecting via http or https in the control panel>Dsm>Settings

Good luck, keep at it. Synology does work with our router.

Asus RT-N66U

@stsalkit

It's actually quite simple: In my LAN I have a Synology-Diskstation with a DLNA-MediaServer on it.

Via my old Asus WL500gp v2 router I could access this MediaServer from various Clients , like BluRayPlayer, Ipad2 with the Airplayer-App (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/airplayer/id369713694) etc on my LAN.

After switching to the Asus RT-N66U this is not working anymore (BlurayPlayer/Ipad-App can't see the MediaServer on the Synology anymore).

@Protos
Thank you for the hint, I will give that a try in the evening / at the weekend.

Cheers

LAN only

...since I need the media Server acces inside my LAN only, UPnP shouldn't be a Problem... Right?

Cheers,

@Protos

Activated JumboFrames on the Synology and on the asus, to no prevail ....

Is there anything else I could do ?

Thank you for any hint.

Cheers,

(facepalm)

Just found out, that after updating the Synology DSM Software just a couple of days ago, the Media Server was not installed anymore on the Synology box...
...reinstalled it, and everything works fine :-)

Sorry for the trouble...

Cheers,

Zigster
