New Around Here
I have a mesh network with 2 Asus routers, RTAC66UBi as the main and RT AC68U as the other unit in the hall. Today I noticed my laptop, which is connected to the hall unit by cable, was on wifi and when I checked the cable connection was un-named (English!). I tried to log onto the main unit using my password recorded in Bitwarden and I was met with wrong user name or password. After several goes I then saw the captcha screen that others have mentioned. I have never seen this before having always been able to log on at the first attempt. I don't keep a log of the firmware I use but I know it was up to date a few days ago as I tried to update it and was rebuffed by the system as my setup was using the latest versions. I have the self-upgrade switch set to off so the system should not have upgraded without my knowing about it. I have rebooted both routers and can now see the cable connection correctly named on my laptop however I still cannot log on to the router. The last resort is going to be a factory reset but I wonder if anybody has any other ideas? Thanks for any help.

Factory reset immediately and make sure you are not allowing access from WAN.

Use a new router name and password once reset.

Hi, I was hoping it might be as a result of a firmware upgrade that got through somehow but I guess you think it's some bad guys..

Can you afford to take the chance? You're going to have to reset anyway if you can't use the old password.
