South Carolina power question

Well, looks like the daughters router and maybe the cable modem, bit the dust again, that makes 3, maybe 4. Was planning on taking a new 800-1000va ups down there for the router and cable modem over thanksgiving but it looks like the power company beat me. They are about 20 min south of Myrtle beach, is that just a crummy power area. They lost a week old TV 3 months ago to a spike but the retailer replaced it. Well, time to go home and prep a care package, guess I won't be playing much with that netgear I got a couple of weeks ago. Another question, would a lightning arrestor on the coax help any ?

You might throw in a Kill-A-Watt meter in with the rest of the care package. That is a simple way to see what the voltage fluctuation is over time. If there is a voltage problem (too high) then the power company will change the transformer feeding that area and lower the voltage.

I used to live down in Charleston, SC, and the area gets some mean electrical storms... after losing two TV's, got in the habit of unplugging things when storms arrive :)

Good catch on the coax side..

You didn't mention if this was a house or an apartment - if it's a house, might be useful to check with an electrician in the area and get their insight.

It's a brand new 4 bdrm house. Need to look it over closer next time we get down there.
