I tried clearing the cache before reformatting I would try anything that was suggested before a reformat.

clean install of Windows on the computer solved the problem

Well... you are perhaps the first who reset the router AND the computer.

Just an update on this situation, I built a new computer with a B860 board and ultra 265 processor, have the same problem with the stock asus firmware, again it works fine with merlin, it looks like the GUI changed in the new merlin firmware where you don’t have to select the 2.4 and 5ghz from a dropdown box, unbelievable…
