The problem is you don't know which version you are buying. Is there anyway to tell?

Version numbers are normally written on the box and the bottom of the router.

I recently purchased two BE98 Pros. One from BestBuy and one from Amazon. Both were manufactured 2024 h/w 2.0. I returned both unopened. It must take a significant amount of time for new revisions to be mass produced and distributed throughout the supply chain to the consumer. As a side note, I also purchased a 3 pack of BQ16 pros from BestBuy manufactured 2024 h/w version A1.

He said the one from Amazon was also 2.0.

I did the same thing with a BE98 Pro. Bought one from Amazon about 2 weeks ago. I got v2.0 and returned it.

Wanted to chime in here to add my two cents - I recently purchased the BE98 Pro on 10/5/24 from Amazon and I also received hardware version 2.0..

Hope I don’t miss out on AFC due to a hardware revision..

It's almost a yr the plan to add AFC was announced for this router. What's the hold up? Currently, AFC is operational and authorized in the United States and Canada but where are the routers to make use of it?

I had the BE98 for about 2 weeks , returned it I could not get it to work the way I wanted .My 1100 pro is good enogh for now get close to ISP advertized speeds on wireless 1gb down 100 up I get 975 down 98 up

Most likely the reliability of Asuswrt-Merlin 3004 firmware base. The new 3006 firmware is still rough on the edges.
