Strange Behavior on RT-BE86U

I replaced my RT-AX56U with an RT-BE86U because I got it for half the price. The previous owner had it replaced due to an issue where the LAN1 port was stuck at 100mb/s. I'm not sure if it was his Ethernet cables or something else, but the unit I bought is a replacement, and the LAN1 port is working fine now. I’ve got 2.5Gbps running to my main computer, and I haven’t noticed any drops in connection speed. However, setting up the router was tricky. I wanted to replicate the same settings and scripts that worked on my RT-AX56U, but getting the new router to that state was difficult. I tried manually entering the settings one by one, but the router would still go into a boot loop seemingly out of the blue. I even tried repeating the exact steps to see what triggered it, but the boot loops still happened randomly. For example, one time I simply forgot to change the admin password, and when I went back to change it, the router immediately went into a boot loop. Really strange.

Another weird issue: after doing a WPS reset following the boot loops and returning to the first boot "Installation Wizard," I tried creating an IoT network for my devices at home. The router would get stuck in a boot loop just trying to create the IoT WiFi network alongside the main network. I was able to reproduce this 2-3 times after performing the WPS reset.

Now, after a few days of use, the router is stable. I’ve manually assigned IPs for my computers, created a guest network for my IoT devices (using the same method from my RT-AX56U), and everything like port forwarding, IPv6, and WireGuard is working fine. Some addon scripts from the AMTM menu are also running smoothly, which I’ve listed in my signature. However, the router is still acting up: when I try to save a new port forwarding rule or make any changes in the Web UI, the router reboots after saving. This is not normal behavior.

So, my question is: Is the router failing and should I replace it? The previous owner gave me the purchase receipt, and there are still two years left on the warranty.

Have you tried re-flashing the current firmware?

Not yet. I might do it next week. Should I factory reset from Web GUI before re-flashing?

Yes... disconnect everything, cycle power, Hard Reset the firmware, re-flash the firmware, Hard Reset the firmware, and then see how it works... if you can get that far.
