StrongSwan on Asuswrt-Merlin

Has anyone successfully implemented IKEv2 on their Asuswrt-Merlin to benefit from the higher speeds and better encryption offered by the protocol?

I used this guide from NordVPN. Sadly ipsec service does not create the tunnel.

Running ASUSWRT-Merlin RT-AC88U 384.10-0 Sun Mar 24 21:36:39 UTC 2019

Starting strongSwan 5.7.2 IPsec [starter]...

@RT-AC88U-0000:/tmp/home/root# ipsec up NordVPN

No errors are given, no log created.
