Synology vs QNAP Firmware

There's lots of threads talking about the hardware, with QNAP seemingly coming out on top for build quality at least, performance differences seem less substantial.

However, there's very few threads talking about the firmware specifically, you can sort of read between the lines that Synology is better in this respect but there's little detail or discussion of this.

Anyone got any experience that might shed more light here?

Each has a few features that the other doesn't. But for most uses, they are pretty equal.

I personally don't care for the Synology admin GUI. But that's just a taste / preference thing.
