System Log entry question

Can someone explain:
Jan 14 09:16:49 dnsmasq-dhcp[1445]: DHCPINFORM(br0) 192.168.1.231 b8:ac:6f:a4:16:7a
Jan 14 09:16:49 dnsmasq-dhcp[1445]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.231 b8:ac:6f:a4:16:7a Studio-XPS

For this particular PC these entries repeat at least once every 10 minutes. Sometimes they are only 1 minute apart. Odd, as this PC is sitting idle for most of the day.

it probably has to do with the client itself, perhaps bleh drivers, etc? or an inconsistent connection for whatever reason.

on a somewhat related note, i've been wondering if 'dhcp query frequency' on the wan page also affects the lan side

Thanks. I just rebooted this client into Linux and I no longer get those log entries I did when it was running Win 7. So.... sounds like a window thing :)

It's Windows constantly trying to query the DHCP server for a proxy. Try a forum search on "Windows proxy" or DHCPACK, you should find a few threads providing with some workarounds that can be used with custom firmwares.
