I have DD-WRT v3.0-r29621 std (05/10/16) running now but thinking of trying Merlin on it.
Or maybe the stock Asus firmware..Easy to change this or more trouble than its worth?

Anyone wanting a T-Mobil Asus RT-AS68U there's a seller in e-bay selling them, "open box" for $43.99 with free shipping.
there has been 19 sold in 24 hours and there's 9 left.

The one I bought earlier and have Merlin firmware on it has a 800 mz processor and 256 ram and I believe it's hardware version A1. So now I'll have a spare.

RonB. If your asking about updating from T-Moble firmware the hardest part are deciphering the different instructions and understanding the sequence things need to be done in.

The listing on Ebay has been removed. Also I'm curious how the performance is on these vs the non T Mobile version. I have the AC56U which I'm told has the same hardware with the exception of 2 interior antennas rather than 3 exterior. Been very reliable though I'd like a bit better throughput and range on the 5 gHz band. Thanks

I don't know but the range on mine is not as good as the NVG510, I'm sure its a better overall router than the NVG but far as wireless range the NVG beats it..Mine has DDWRT that might be hurting it some or the setup as I have it...dunno

All I have to compare my T-M converted to Asus/Merlin firmware is the my trusty old Asus RT-N66R. For 6 months right after I got my T-M we had our adult daughter and two teenagers and my TM rt-ac68u took three apple i-phones on 50 Mhz, my wired PC and grandson's wired gaming pc and my two Roku, one wired one wireless in stride. Our house is an old 2 story with plastered walls.
My ISP, Road Runner now Spectrum, is only is 25mbs in a saturated neighborhood. It's rock solid reliable might not be fast enough for some but a fantastic inexpensive upgrade for me.

I can reach my wi-fi with my HP laptop, NextBook and LG smart phone on my neighbor's porch.

I didn't get one of the e-bay units as stated the listing has been removed as Jontalk says.
