I'm planing to change my RT-N66U on new Asus router.
I use router mainly as a alternative for NAS with 2 usb 3.0 hdd connected.

Which model AC router will be the best choice regarding hdd USB speed over Lan?

if you wan't peace of mind - none , netgear maybe ??

as far as I know, there are two asus routers with USB 3.0 - 68 and 56(?) and for 68 for the last 6 months FW is in highly development mode ... I had 66 and it was very stable for me back then (I don't know how much FW differ from the 68) If NAS functions are yet accaptable I'd stick with 66 for a while till things clarify a bit

in asus ? no problem was related to Wi-Fi Interference.

A lot of the USB issues I've seen posted here were resolved with higher quality cables between the drive and router. But it seems like with USB3 in general, compatibility depends on the specific drive and whatever it's connected to.

That said, I would wait and see how the AC56/AC68 firmware develops before buying a new one (your existing router is pretty good, so I'm sure you'll be fine in the mean time). They're doing a decent job of improving it lately, so in a month or two they could both be the best routers on the market. From what I hear the new Netgear is having the same type of firmware issues, so I wouldn't necessarily switch brands right now like some people suggested.

I would second Ikoul's recommendation to wait a bit. I tested my USB3.0 speed on AC68R on my LAN with Merlin's 374.38_1 build and I was getting 61 MB/s which is faster than the best number for AC68R on the link that user 'house' posted.
