Todo after upgrade firmware?

Is it mandatory or good practise (atleast) if you will, that you reset nvram after a firmware upgrade? From 384.19 to 386.1 for example?

Is it worth saving the settings in such a case? Or is it countraproductive to the nvram flash?

Genuine question here, not trying to be snarky, but why is the process of resetting ASUS router to factory defaults often recommended on this forum so weirdly complicated? I often see recommendations of clearing the JFFS partition, unplugging everything for 15 minutes, resetting to factory...

Heh, i did search before posting, not for reset though but flash nvram.

I do have one question to that FAQ list.
Why does not the new firmware always reset nvram once it's flashed? Or atleast give me an option to do so, and save me some time.

Because when the router boots, it has no way of knowing if it should do a reset or not. And also because in the vast majority of cases a reset is NOT required.
