Trouble with TPL303E

Hi, I have 2 TPL303E powerline adaptors and sometimes I think I should have gone for the wired option. The manual is useless, and the utility cannot spot both of them at once for some reason. Anyway, I eventually got it all to work about 6 months ago. Today I installed a standard lamp with 2 x 5w LED's and that works fine. But after tearing my hair out trying to get the powerlines to see each other the penny dropped that they disconnected from each other when the light was switched on and reconnected when it was switched off.
Have any of you heard of a similar problem and is there any sort of fix apart from the dustbin?

Oh, I have logged a fault with Trendnet but I'm not holding my breath

My ups monitor says that my voltage is varying from 228 to 230 about every 5 seconds. Could this cause the problem as my voltage is normally steady at 230v.

Surge Protector as Filter

Try plugging your lamp into a surge protector. It may work to isolate and/or filter the interference the power supply for the lamp is apparently causing.

If that doesn't work try plugging your lamp into an extension cord and the cord into the surge protector.

I have had success using a inexpensive $9.95 single outlet surge protector to eliminate interference from one device in my home that was knocking down my powerline adapters' speed.

Small voltage fluctuations are normal with AC power. Anyway what you see on a meter is just an average anyway since the voltage fluctuates over the sine wave.

I'll give that a try. I now have the problem that I can't get the damn things to work with the LED light on or off. The manual is no help. For example, it doesn't tell me what it means when the power light flashes. I will certainly NEVER buy anything from them again.

hello friend I am facing similar problem with my TPL303E powerline adaptors so were you able to solve it out.. Please help if you can.. Waiting for reply thanks in advance

Well, by a process of trial and error, I found the problem was one of the new 5 x 1w LED bulbs. With it removed, the internet works. If it is in any of the 5 sockets the internet drops. Luckily the supplier will replace it even though as a light it works

I do notice that yesterday the adaptor speed was 5-7 Mb/sec instead of the advertised 200 Mb/sec. Today it is up to 25 which is still pretty poor.

So I swopped the 'bad' one. It didn't make any difference. It now seems that the adaptors disconnect if there are more than 2 Led bulbs in the circuit anywhere. That is a total of 10x1w LEDs. I have changed 2 of them to Halogen bulbs. These are not as bright as the LEDs and use 10 times the power - 50w instead of 5w.

Light dimmers are notoriously noisy on the power wires. And sometimes over the air - hold an AM pocket radio near a dimmer and adjust the dimmer.

Some dimmers are better than others, depending on the design.

I always keep various ferrite chokes in my hell box. As a life time HAM operator I can't
stand EMI/RFI active or passive. I operate on HF to UHF range, wireless thermostat on
home hvac, garage door opener remotes, car remotes, home theater remotes, wireless router, home alarm system, cell phones, etc., etc. imagine if they tried to interfere each other, Whew! We live in a RF signal jungle day in day out every day. It
is getting worse by the day. El cheapo products are part of the problem.
