Okay, I'm a bit confused by all this new network technology. My current set up is just using my Actiontec router as my primary router. It is hooked up to Fios via a coax line. I do not get Fios TV service. This is located in my office and I have some PCs hardwired to for work. I have across in my living room my entertainment hub that consist of a WD Live player, PS3, Xbox 360, and Dish DVR, all of which can utilize the internet.
So what I want to do is have an access point in my living room so I can connect all 4 devices to the access point ports (partly because my wireless signal from the Actiontec seems weak and I don't have a wireless adapter for 2 of the 4 devices). So I was thinking I can accomplish this by buying 2 wireless N routers.
I would bypass the actiontec and use one of the new routers as my primary and use the other new router as the access point. The issue I seem to be reading about is mixing N and G networks. My iphone and laptops will be running on G. But obviously I want my wired devices to the access point to be running on N.
Is there a solution where I can keep the access point using only N wireless so my media devices take advantage of that throughput but still have a G network running on the primary? What do you guys suggest?
