Thank you so much for this!I have my fans blowing into the router as it is more easy to apply a filter to prevent accumulating dust in the device.
Either blowing in/out should give a decent improvement in (lower) temperature.
I went from 85 Celsius CPU to 65 Celsius CPU temp (~25% lower) with 2x 12volt fans running on 5volt of a USB adapter blowing in. Because the fans are running on less then half their design voltage, I only hear them with my ear next to the router.
I was looking for that thread. I had read through it and lost it. Thank you again!I used standard multi-purpose 12v ventilators for my router, but this is not a plug-and-play solution as I had to connect a USB plug to it.. Best is to find something that fits to/with your particular router.
Maybe you can get an idea from this threat: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac87u-r-cooling-solutions.24888/

sounds good. Thanks! Those temperatures drops of 20 Celsius mirrors my experience too. I have been running them on my devices at home from day 1. Even use on my Roku 4 as that device runs HOT! But not at the two sites I support. I took care of that this week. 88c down to 66c. I plug them into a power strip with USB plug in's. They do not cost much here. All of the computer stores carry them.
