Video Streaming with Hidden SSID

Rift

New Around Here
Hey all I was hoping to get some help with something that I haven't encountered on any previous routers iv owned.

When I have the SSID set to hidden on the 66U it basically makes streaming any type of video of lets say my Iphone impossible. It constantly cuts out and cant keep a steady stream. However when I turn I turn of the hide SSID function this problem totally goes away.

I was hoping someone could give me some insight into this as I haven't encountered this issue on any of my previous routers.

Thanks in advanced!

hiding the SSID does nothing but make it hard for some clients to hook up . it's broadcast anyhow even if hidden . I always broadcast , never a problem

What Jerry said. Hiding your SSID actually gives zero security enhancement, as it will cause some wireless clients to actually broadcast the SSID as they are trying to locate your home network. I'm not sure if that was ever changed in later Windows releases, but it was discussed back in the WinXP days.

This article is a very interesting read for those wondering about the pros and cons of disabling SSID broadcast.
