Hey all.

I have found information about making a Raspberry Pi into a VPN.
See: https://www.iottechtrends.com/set-up-home-vpn-server-raspberry-pi/

I got the basics: a static External IP from ISP...
Looked at the info/videos on the topic as my VPN solution soon ends...
Question 1: Should I put the Raspberry Pi on the WAN or LAN side of my router..?
(LAN with port forwarding - I know)
Question 2: With ViVPN can I choose any server in any country - and how?
Question 3: If this is a good solution, Should i buy minimum what?
I think something this:
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
16 GB MicroSD
Power Supply
Case
(Your suggestion?)

Regards

John

Well I meant: Can the server like my VPN provider letting me emulate being in any country? And how?
I mean OpenVPN

No. The server runs on your LAN allowing you connect to your home network from another location (e.g. internet cafe, hotel, etc.). This is completely different to using a VPN provider to emulate being in a different country.

Using the router (with RMerlin firmware), if you have say two VPN Clients concurrently connected to say USA and UK, then if you are in say a coffee shop, if you then connect to your home VPN server, you will normally have the standard GUI option of browsing via your ISP's native country.

However, using a script, you can also enable the option of bypassing the default browsing (via the ISP's native country), and browse either via the USA VPN client or the UK VPN client i.e. OpenVPN server 'pass-thru'.
