VPN and DNS Forwarder?

Thinking about setting a VPN connection with my home router with SlickVPN, but I am currently using a DNS forwarding service to connect to my home network when I'm out and about with No-Ip.org.

If I set up a VPN on my router would the DNS forwarder use the IP given to my router from the VPN ? or would it use the ISP I.P? and not be secure?
