WAN or LAN for Small Business?

New Around Here
I'm doing a project for my school and one of the parts is to define the network architecture and the IEEE standard.

The company contains some laptops and a total of 86 people. I believe this qualifies as a small business so I was leaning more towards a LAN, but I wanted to get a little discussion in before I commit to it.

Also, I'm curious about which 802.11X I should use. I was thinking something simple like a 802.3 and 802.11g

No offense, but this almost isn't worth commenting on except for the fact that you should have asked whether your project would maintain relevance.

I would consider 802.11n, although not accepted, the draft could help you drive home a major point. Stay current with technology. The down side is overcoming the limitations of multiple versions/variations on a Draft Standard.

2nd, you should consider how to approach security, which is ultimately more important the distance you can achieve with your network. This is debatable though.

3rd, defining an architecture is simple, but how do you plan to define the IEEE standard? That's already defined.

Is the goal to design the infrastructure/architecture and compare it to the standard?
