Web UI impossible to reach after VPN settings are changed

ZakM

Occasional Visitor
Every time I have a problem with my VPN, like if it goes down, or if I make a change to its configuration ,the Web UI gets frozen up, I cannot access it anymore. I need to power cycle the router for it to work again.
I don't know what else to do to not have this happen but it's become a massive problem.

Router is an AX-86U running 3004.388.9_2

OP you didn't provide a lot of info:
What IP / hostname are you trying to reach the router on?
Are you local to it?
When you say 'VPN' do you mean the VPN server, or the client setup?
From what client / browser combo?

OP you didn't provide a lot of info:
My bad!

What IP / hostname are you trying to reach the router on?
the local address, 10.0.0.1

Are you local to it?
Yes I am doing this in the LAN

When you say 'VPN' do you mean the VPN server, or the client setup?
VPN client

From what client / browser combo?
from any I used. Tried on my phone, Windows and Mac laptops, it gets stuck.

Currently and after a reboot, my CPU usage is also going mental. I don't klnow why:

if I SSH to the router and run TOP, I notice this popping up to the top often:
Code:
 /etc/openvpn/vpnclient1 --cd /etc/openvpn/client1 --config config.ovpn

this sounds eerily familiar, i think they are related:
