Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great start to the new year. I'm fairly new to Merlin firmware. I'd appreciate it if you could share the add-ons you use daily with your routers so I can familiarize myself with them and evaluate their installation. Thank you very much.

See my signature.

As always only install addons as and when needed.
I often use my router as a testbed for betas (testing the latest VPNMON beta as I type). All the addons in my signature are stable on Merlin's 3006 firmwares, and will all run together without problems. Add Diversion to that list - I was using it but recently went with pihole on my sever instead.

See the Asuswrt-Merlin Addon Software Catalogue if you haven't done so already to see the various addon scripts and links to the specific scripts that explain what they do.

The router will operate as designed without the use of any of the addon scripts. Some make the mistake of randomly installing addon scripts then wonder why their router is having issues or problems. They'll then spend hours/days trying to figure out why. Others simply like to tinker and experiment or extend certain router features. There is NO specific list of must have addon scripts one should use or install. Everyone's use case is different.

As others have suggested, start by not installing any addon scripts. Run the router without any addon scripts to see if it performs as desired for your use case. See people's signature lines where they may list firmware, addon script(s), and configurations they are running for their specific use case or testing environment.

Is there an add-on that implements a speed test server like https://openspeedtest.com/, and could this also be installed on AIMesh nodes? I think that might be very helpful for checking the connectivity and throughput of the entire AIMesh system and its internal links.

Use the "Better Search" function at the top of the page to find previous discussions about OpenSpeedTest. For example here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/openspeedtest-as-an-addon.85202/

However, as that thread shows there may be limitations imposed by the router's hardware. You don't say what router you're using but recent firmware already has iperf built-in, so that's probably the best option (assuming you're talking about LAN to LAN speed tests).
