Use any of these. They are just recommendations, not requirements.

I suggest ext4 with journalling disabled.

Note: in examples below my target partition was sda1, yours may differ.

To format ext4 no journal:

mke2fs -t ext4 -O ^has_journal /dev/sda1

To relabel the drive:

tune2fs -L "myusbdrive" /dev/sda1
