Why is wifi upload speed better than download?

AC56U 380.63_2 internet speed 50/20
I found a strange thing: I'm a bit far from my router, and my downloaded speed is 6 Mbps, but upload speed is 20 Mbps.
I'm wondering why there is so much difference between downloaded and upload speed
 
WiFi is a shared medium, so if there are other clients also present, it might just be the amount of time one is getting on one side of the link or other...
