Wifi Light switch not paring

Hi,

Just upgraded from a AC68u to an AC86u. Everything is going smooth except I can't get these dang wifi electric switches (in wall) to get picked up by the AC86u. I can get them pair (2.4GHz) only, but after they are, they never come online. Not in the logs, device list table either.

I WPS'd the AC68u and put it in repeater mode off of the 2.4GHz signal on the new AC86u. Wifi switches paired perfectly and connected through the repeater. Now I can say Alexa turn on Kitchen Lights and it works.

I know this is very trivial, it is just driving me nuts not being able to figure it out. Have not went nuclear yet on the AC86u. The performance of the AC86u has been amazing at home now.

Thank you to all for any replies.

EDIT: I do have 3 other smart plugs that work flawlessly

Are you using the same (old) SSID's? Are your SSID's only 8 characters (specifically alphanumeric characters with no spaces, special characters, punctuation, or smiley faces)?

Does rebooting the router and/or the wifi switches help?

Curious what benefit these give (when working, of course)?

All the manual switches I have are working great after over 45 years, 3 rowdy, sticky-handed kids, countless parties and little or lots of use daily. :)

Try disabling Airtime Fairness, then Universal Beamforming per band.

I feel like a Code :IDIoT. When I paired them with the repeater and finally got to the point of completion, on a setting screen there was a red dot passed the scroll on the app screen. I never did see it on the iOS app, but on a Samsung tablet pairing it because of iPhone location issues and conflicts in the same app, it showed up at the top in a banner (firmware update). After updating firmware on the plugs, voila, right on the 2.4GHz on the AC86u.

Ah, the benefits of using your voice :) I can never go back to using my hands! HaHa.

Sorry to take up bandwidth, storage and pixels.
