Wifi slow on 2.4

Hey, can someone help me troubleshoot slow wifi on 2.4 ? I'm running ax-88u with merlin 3004.388.10_2 , my 3 mesh nodes are running asus stock firmware 3.0.0.4.386_52294-ga575528 , started with a complete wipe, all fresh
5Ghz is working perfect, but 2.4 is slow, if i do a speedtest, i get around max 20Mbs, copy files over smb like max 5 MB , tested is on several clients to rule out client issue...
tried 20Mhz only instead of 20/40 , no difference, tried 1,6,11 channels, no difference
Tried connecting to different nodes to rule out asus hardware, no difference ...

So it must be a setting? here are my current settings... can anyone help me?

Recommend you remove all aimesh nodes and run the AX88U alone for few hours. Are you still seeing slow downs?

If you don't start be adding 1 aimesh node and test again. Sometimes having too many nodes will create slow downs.

yes, 1,6,11 , no neigbours here, no interference with others

Try disconnecting the nodes temporarily and disable Roaming assistant. Also choosing channel bandwidth to 20Mhz will be slower. You can try both choosing 20/40Mhz temporarily and see if the speeds improve.

yeah, also tried without roaming assistent, i only turned that feature on last week, but i had the same issues also before, not related to RA
What are you paid speeds? Do you have AiProtection enabled or use Adaptive QoS?

copy files is like 5MB/s max
Internet speedtest is like 10-20 Mbs
Do you have asymmetrical speeds? What's your download and upload speeds overall i.e. 200/50 Mbps or 200/200 Mbps?

What speed are you expecting on 2.4 GHz? Show some details about the clients on the System Log - Wireless Log page.

Post a readable screen capture of your System Log > Wireless Log so people can see what the Wireless devices are connecting at.

If you previously had enabled but then later disabled AiProtection, QoS or other services that may touch the Trend Micro feature, make sure to Withdraw from those features on the Administration > Privacy (Policy) page.

Edit to add: For the SMB issue, are you transferring files between computers or computer to NAS? Or are you copying files to a USB device attached to the router's USB port? If using a USB port attached to the router, what USB port and what type of USB device is it?

Also are the 3 nodes RT-AX88U routers or some other router model?

Trend Micro options enabled/disabled are very likely unrelated to the "issue".

never turned on trendmicro/adaptive/ai protection...anyway, the wireless log is a good place to start
I copy over to NAS , SSD drive, no USB whatsoever , when connecting to 5Ghz , i can copy fast like 100 MB/s

But, on my 2.4 wireless log, i dont see my laptop client listed, seems it only list like 9 clients, how can i force show my laptop there?
The aimesh nodes are rt-ac86u, my main is rt-ax88u

But, on my 2.4 wireless log, i dont see my laptop client listed

Is your laptop connecting to 2.4GHz band because it's far? The throughput of 5MB/s is >40Mbps, over wireless with less than ideal signal level - sounds about right to me for 20MHz wide channel and a few other nodes on the same channel waiting for each other to send/receive data. Your laptop is not listed in Wireless Log most likely because it's not connected to the main router, but a node.

Hmm, copy files should be around 10 MB/sec...
Yeah, was connected to a node indeed, there is no way to show clients connected to nodes in that log?

Normally I m connected to 5 GHz, but I need/want to solve the 2.4 anyway
