Wired Traffic Speed Issue

pcmarc

Occasional Visitor
Dear All,

Router: RT-AC88U
Firmware: Merlin latest
Scripts: Skynet firewall, & Adguard Home

On my router I only see speed traffic from wireless connections, no up/down traffic speed on wired connections.

All wired devices are connected directly into router ports, NAS, NVR, etc..

Any idea why ? (see printscreen)

Thanks,

Marc

Still irritating that the fixed speed is not shown. There is still a Tx and Rx rate, even if it is fixed, right?
Yeah they could have put more effort into it. I guess it was too difficult for them to do given that the list is essentially per client list and not a per interface list.

Still irritating that the fixed speed is not shown.

Irritating? Let's see... I can customize the Client List view on my UniFi gateway, but port speed there is not really needed since both Network Application in UniFi OS and Asuswrt already display ports information on a different UI screen and it's a click away. In Asuswrt it's on the main UI page (one click), in Network Application is similar in Ports menu (one click):

So you are basically asking about the ability to duplicate the same information in Client List like this:

...but first it's not really needed and second Asuswrt has fixed width UI as far as I remember. I can stretch the Network Application full screen on a 4K display and still don't find the need of this so called Technology column in Client List.

Can't make everyone happy, I guess... 🤷‍♂️

It's not shown because that client could very well be connected to a network switch - the router has no way of knowing then what speed it's connecting at.

If you want the link speed of whatever is connected to the router's own Ethernet ports, that is shown on the right side of the networkmap by hovering over the port.

@RMerlin

There’s no mouse on tablets and mobile phones! It’s frustrating that I can’t measure speeds. I use the router interface on a tablet and mobile phone. Whoever came up with this didn’t think it through! It’s a major flaw!!

A suggestion. Use the Asus router app for mobile devices. Even though the app is not officially supported under Asus-Merlin firmware, one can still see the connected speed of each port. Select the router in the app, then select list view. Example attached.

That was probably the reasoning why Asus decided not to put too much focus on making the new networkmap more touch-friendly.

Like described, all devices are connected directly to the Router ports, no switch between nas & router.

Used this app also ;-)

By the way, what clients connect with 1201Mbps and 960Mbps link speeds to your RT-AC88U router?
