Wireless Advice Wanted

New Around Here
I have a Asus gigabit, 2.4ghz g/n device atm. edit"First, I failed to mention, the wireless and the cable connection are in the man-cave." When i'm in the living room watching Netflix on my playstation 3, we are constantly losing connection. When I tested my connection with my laptop, its showing about 6mb, but a good connection at 6...

I have 30mbit download speeds, so I can do better then this. I can either run a line from the man cave with the asus to somewhere more central in the house, or I can upgrade to a a/n 5ghz device...I think I remember there being issues with this (5ghz) because of the older wireless technology in the ps3??

The distance between the man-cave and the living room is 20-25 yards and 2 paper thin walls. However, the distance between my 15 neighbors and their wireless connections is 20-60 yards from the living room. I show about 20 wireless ap's, and a couple are stronger then mine.

I've read a number of reviews and tried a couple of different things. I pulled out an older wireless device, and plugged it in, set it up for G, then went back and set the asus for N only, pointed the ps3 at the G, and left the printer, 3 laptops and the tablet/phones on the asus. Or actually I didn't mess with the phones, I just assumed they would work, I suppose they might have reverted back to 3g at that point if they didn't have N connectivity (iphone 4 and 4s). Now I've turned off the older wireless device and put the wsus back to g/n as the testing I did back to a shared folder (moving a 1gb file) on the lan didn't show any improvement while under load/transfer.

So again, i'm back to...do I move the wsus ap to the center of the house, or do I just buy a 5ghz N or A device? Or is 5ghz going to do anything for me since I have a ps3 and that's the main thing i'm having trouble with...

If you're going to run a line, why not run Ethernet to your cave?

Have you considered trying powerline adapters?

Thx for the replies.

First, I failed to mention, the wireless and the cable connection are in the man-cave.

To clarify, i'm having trouble with my wireless connection in the living room. My ultimate question is a 2-3 part question.
1 Is the ps3 capable of connection to a 5ghz wireless device
2 If yes, then can I just buy a 5ghz wireless device to make my wireless woes go away;
3 If yes, but it won't make my wireless woes go away, then at that point my only option would be to run a line from the man-cave to the ceiling, through the attic then out on to the top of a post and lintel dividing our living room and kitchen.

In so far as the ip over power lines is concerned (powerline adapters), thus far I haven't had very good luck with them. I've tried setting them up for a client and for work for a make-shift fix until we could get new lines run, and had very little luck with them. (Mostly due to multiple power closets...not necessarily directly connected if that makes sense to you guys) That said, I have not tried them at our house, and I have a couple spares I could try.

moca, I am almost completely unfamiliar with that. I had to look it up.

I'd assume you'd be using existing wiring in the house, and that would be assuming its all connected together. I have testing equipment for Ethernet but not for cable. I'm probably going to lean away from that, if only because i'm unfamiliar with it. I can always lean back the other way if the other ways appear to be more expensive and/or less trustworthy. Thank you for the suggestion, i'll keep it in the back of my mind for this and future endeavors.
