Wireless connectivity issues with rt-ac66r

i agree with jlake, what's the linksys and the asus' IPs ?

also, does AP mode on the asus automatically disable the dhcp server for the lan? may need to ensure it has

I can't see the make of the modem on the shell. It was provided by the cable company. It's a simple modem, there's only one output and no wireless. The IP on the Linksys is 192.168.1.1 assigning IPS between x.x.x.2 to 54. The Asus was set to AP mode with a static IP at 192.168.1.55. Dhcp was turned off. I'm unsure if I have gateway and DNS set properly though. Both are set to 192.168.1.1.

Unfortunately no. My dad has decided he knows how to fix the router better than me, and no internet has been running since about 9. I write this from my phone so I apologize for any grammatical errors.

I'm making small progress. While my Samsung netbook seems to be a lost cause, the Sony laptop seems salvageable. I can get brief moments of connection. When pinging the server during these times, I'm losing 3 out of 4 packets, but getting one returned. There is SOME connection between my Linksys gateway and the Sony laptop, connected through my Asus access point. The signal seems dependent on location though, and moving it even 10 ft away from the Asus degrades the connection severely.

As a side note, the ping test returns varied results, sometimes 3 returns, sometimes 2, sometimes 1. Haven't gotten 4 out of 4 back yet.

I have tried just using the ASUS rt-ac66r as the router, removing the linksys from the network. I reset the default settings. Now, nothing can connect to the network again. Does this help narrow anything down?
