Wireless Mode: Legacy?

I have a RT-N66U. I had the "Wireless Mode" set to "N Only" before, but a couple of people in the house purchased Nintendo 3DS consoles and those are G only. So, I set the "Wireless Mode" of the N66U to "Legacy" and checked the box for "b/g Protection".

Will these changes negatively impact performance for all of the other devices on the network?

My impression from the help text is yes, Legacy mode will slow down N devices. I use Auto mode. But I don't have any inside technical info for you.
