Wireless Router Recommendation - 5 public ips

amaurib

New Around Here
Hello guys, Im here looking for some Wireless Router recommendation that can suit my needs.

Right know i have a 60/5 connection to the internet but my current setup is limiting a bit my download speed. I have a Zyzel USG20 after my ISP modem and my downloads are not higher than 2,3mbps, if i connect directly to the modem, i get easy to 5,6mbps.

One of the reasons i got that UTM was because I have 5 public ips, and i needed a way to easily configure my network trough a web UI.

Inside my network i have :

1 Workstation,
2 laptops,
2 Smart Tvs,
1 Web/Dev Server
1 PS3
1 Synology NAS
2 SmartPhones (wifi)
1 Tablet (wifi)
See attachment....

I have cabled the house with cat6 and two 8port Gig Switch.

So, the question is, is there any decent router out there that can be configured to use more than 1 PUBLIC ip address?

Also, it is very important to me, that this new router comes with firewall, UPnP capable(USG20 is not), an easy to use/configure UI and of course gigabit ports.

Any recommendations?

If any non wireless router comes to your mind, please let me know also, I can use an access point that i already have.

PS: I really hope im posting this on the correct forum, if not, please feel free to move it.

Thank you for your time.....

If you don’t get an answer here you might try in the Router category. Five static IP addresses seems to be more a small business class type router. The other issue I see is UPnP is more a consumer level router requirement and has been having problems for years exposing people’s networks. Homeland Security has recommended not running UPnP and java due to all the security holes it creates.

Is there not a work around for UPnP on your network? When I ran Microsoft’s Small Business Server 2003 it wanted to use UPnP and I always was able to control the router myself and achieve the same results.

You are looking for a feature usually referred to as one-to-one NAT. Coxhaus is correct that this is usually found in biz-class routers, typically with multiple WAN ports.

Cisco RV0XX series routers have it, so do some ZyXELs and this TP-Link router.

Now that you mention the TP-Link router, I checked my TP-Link ER6120 router because they have a lot of the same features and my ER6120 also has one-to-one NAT. I never have tested it but it is in there.

@coxhaus, @thiggins,

Thank you for your reply.. I was afraid to hear that answer, that means an expensive router..:(

Right now the zyxel seems to have all i need but the speed thing is getting me crazy..I wonder if the USG50 or USG100 have this same problem...

BTW, how can we move this topic to the Router forum?

One thing you can test, which is cheap, is to switch cables and ports so your wired and wireless are using the same path, ports and cables as much as possible just to make sure you don’t have a bad cable, port or switch.

Thanks for the tip.. but i have tried all that.. different cables/ports and the results are the same, :(

I really hope someone can move this post to the Routers forum.
