Wireless Router with VPN client and server

Hello everybody!

It's my first post after years of following you silently....

I need a Wireless Router that has built in VPN server and client.

I don't mind if these features are already built-in or come from
another third party firmware.

I also need usb3 ports and at least N, or better, AC connectivity.

I was wondering about:
Netgear r7000 or r6400
Asus CU 68
last Sinology Router

Price is not a big issue....

I was not looking at newest devices because I just need a reliable, and
well tested firmware.

I live in a country where outside cities you can get,
if you are lucky, 10 Mbits up and 2 Mbits down

the R7000 can use RMerlin firmware. Since they all use a dualcore broadcom ARM so just choose one that has the features you want.

they all seem to be using the same hardware so compare them by features and 3rd party support. RMerlin firmware adds very interesting features that you would find helpful for what you want especially if selective routing is what you want. If you want to run vpn client and server on the same router or even multiple vpn connections you will need RMerlin firmware. If you want to run a single vpn function than any of those will work.

install WRT MEriln or DD wrt
