WRT1900AC Local DNS Server Behaviour:
When you specify a single Local DNS Server in DHCP Server settings. The WRT1900's DNS behaviour changes as listed below:
You can ping some of your DNS Server entries to make sure its working as expected.
Once you add a second external DNS Server (Ex: 8.8.8.8) to the WRT1900's DHCP Server settings this behavior stops and all DNS queries are through the WRT1900 and the external DNS Server. The Local DNS is ignored for the most part afterwards.
To get standard DNS behaviour you will have to change the OpenWRT firmware.
