XBOX 360 and Router

I have the AC66U and I am having great difficulty getting my PC to see the XBOX 360 as an extender.

I have the 360 as a wired connection using in wall powerline sockets to connect it to the internet.

When using the XBOX 360 I can log into my xbox live account and all seems normal as the 360 end. I have tried putting the 8 digit code into the Media centre (Win 7) but it never seems to find the connection.

I remember with an old PC I had I got it to work over wireless. Can anyone tell why my PC is not seeing the 360 as an extender?
