XP filesharing with ReadyNas NV+

New Around Here
hey all...long time lurker, first time poster...

Im using Xp with SP3, and a ReadyNas NV+ on my network

my issue is that when I go to 'network places', my NAS shows up ont he network, but when I click on it to try and access files, it takes me to the web interface (html) to acess my shares...BUT sometimes they just show up fine as folders...which i WANT to have happen ALL the time.

when i right click on my NAS in XP my only options are to 'invoke, create shortcut, rename and properties'

how do i set up XP (or the NAS for that matter if need be) to view the shares and folder and files locally on my computer INSTEAD of them trying to access the browser for me to use them?

ALSO...when trying to move folders FROM one of the drives in my XP desktop TO the NAS, I get a 'cannot create or replace (filename here). access is denied' message... how do i fix this?

I hope that makes sense...

Hmmm... seems kind of weird. The invoke command when you right click is not something I have seen before. What information do you get when you do properties?

Are you sure you are accessing the server via SAMBA and not FTP or some other protocol? Find out what the local IP address of your ReadyNAS is. Then open up my computer and type \\(ReadyNAS IP) for example \\192.168.0.2. I always use this method as the links under my network places can be incorrect. If accessing via SAMBA it should show up with a folder list of available shares on your NAS.
