XT12 Asus VPN set up?

Occasional Visitor
Hello all,

I was wondering i see in the router config, that i can set up a VPN. I wanted to ask can i set this up for particular clients? or maybe i need to set up a guest network to go a VPN route?
My second question is, the Asus VPN setting is this like VPN providers like NordVpn? or is this something completely different ? i see the options PPTP, OpenVPN, IPSecVPN, WireGuardVPN.

Any help much appreciated.

Are you asking about the VPN server or the VPN client?

The router's VPN server allows someone to remotely connect into your home network. The VPN client allows you to route one or more of your home devices through a commercial VPN provider (e.g. NordVPN).

oh yes i am talking about VPN Client. I take it there isn't free VPN clients to configure certain clients? as i want 1 client to use VPN while all my other devices can be left "as-is "

There are a few "free" VPN providers. But you get what you pay for. Two names that come to mind are Windscribe and Proton VPN. Both have limitations if you're not paying (e.g. server or data limits). I guess it depends on exactly what you want from the VPN.
