seeing this in logs fairly often (once every 30 minutes?), Comcast ipv6 on RT-n66u. RMerlin, others, any ideas?

All these log entries show is that something changed in regard to your IPv6 lease, and the related services were restarted. This doesn't show any issue in itself.

@Merlin

Asuswrt-Merlin 374.41 is now available for download.

Enjoy, and happy Easter!

Thank you for your efforts vmi...
Happy Easter to you too.

In the thread for build 374.41 beta you mentioned that ASUS is still working on the code for USB-modems and that it perhaps could be possible that you could try switching to the newer script found in their recent 5517 release to see if it helps against the unability to connect certain modems, e.g. Huawei E372 (to be found here: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=116110&postcount=175).

The connection error still exists in Build 374.41 when trying to connect a HUAWEI modem - error message in Syslog:
Code:
Jan 1 01:00:32 pppd[909]: Connect script failed
...
Jan 1 01:01:37 pppd[1225]: In file /tmp/ppp/peers/3g: unrecognized option '/dev/'

Is there any chance you could give it a try to implement the newer script found in Asus's recent 5517? It would be very nice if I could find the security features of the new build amalgamated with a functioning access to Internet via my Huawei stick :)

Tot kijk
Gerald

Well the new FGW bricked my AC , Or something bricked it , stuck on that FW , cannot factory reset by button or gui , now nothing works at all . Guess it goes back to Asus , using the N66 in the meantime .

Check out the CD that came with it. I think there's a recovery utility.

RMerlin

Can you please unhide all the settings that are in Wireless - Professional tab when the router is in a Repeater Mode?

Thanks.

After upgrading from 374.40, I'm getting the following message in my syslog roughly every 60 minutes.
Code:
miniupnpd[464]: PCP: External IP in request didn't match interface IP
Source of this message.

Not sure if this is meaningful or not, but I thought I'd let you know.

Tried that , no results . I guess I just update and downgrade firmwares to often , they must set a liit and after you reach x amount of upgrades /downgrades it bricks . Same thing happened to my N66 last year , Asus is great though , 2 weeks later had a new router in hand .

yea, RMerlin must have a freakin warehouse of routers that reached their limit

Apple devices use PCP to request that ports be opened by the router. PCP is version two of NAT-PMP, and you probably have a Mac or other device running a service that needs the router to open a port, like "Back to my Mac". PCP support was added in the .41 Merlin release so that's why the message appears for the first time now.

Per the RFC for PCP this message comes up if there's another NAT between the client device and the router. I get this message too and I don't have another NAT anywhere in my network. Apple devices fall back to NAT-PMP if PCP doesn't work, my guess is this is some bug in the PCP implantation in the router, or perhaps a bug in Apples implementation. Probably nothing is breaking though, Back to My Mac is still working fine for me.

ipv6 broken possibly and logging broken

Here is what I'm seeing on my RT-AC68U:

logging has a broken setting I think.

"Logged packets type" will only be set to Dropped, when I try to set it to Both. Confirmed fixed when I revert to ASUS 5047.

IPv6 has become nonexistent. I did also update Ubuntu to 14.04 today but I am confident that something was up with ipv6 before today. I am not getting an ipv6 address on my ubuntu anymore. It would appear for a little bit but disappear soon after. I have a 6in4 HE tunnel.

I'm looking for the easter egg. There has to be one. This is Merlin.

Hehehe, I found it. :D

This has been frequently reported in the past few months. It's probably a problem within the wireless driver specific to the RT-N66U, nothing I can do about it.

Do you know if Asus is aware so they can tell Broadcom or do I need to email a report?

No, because if I do, I will get tons of people asking why setting XYZ does not work as expected while not in router mode.

It means you have a client on your network that asked to forward a port from an external IP that isn't the one the router is currently using. That might possibly happen in a dual NAT situation I suppose.

I can only do limited tests using the PCP tool provided by miniupnpd, because so far the only ones using PCP are Apple developers. I haven't found a single Windows application that supported PCP.

IPv6 has stopped working for me on comcast as well with .41. it seems dhcp6 isn't assigning addressed anymore

You have any idea how many firmwares got flashed to each of my routers? :p I doubt you have reached any kind of limit, because I would have reached it a long time ago.

To use the Firmware recovery tool, try the following steps:

1) Unplug every Ethernet cables from the router except the one from one single computer
2) Make sure that computer doesn't have Wifi enabled (or it might connect to another router in parallel, which will prevent recovery from working)
3) Start the Firmware Recovery tool. Select the FW you wish to upload (the .trx file), but don't click on upload just yet.
4) Turn off the router you wish to recover.
5) Click on Upload
6) Turn the router on while pressing the Reset button for 5 seconds, then release it

After 5-10 seconds, the upload should begin.

Must be a localized string that isn't properly encoded in the page. When that happens, it gets replaced with the language name.

Is there a setting within the RT-N66U/Merlin GUI for locale? Only I don't recall seeing one, on this or earlier versions. I'm in GB too but the only relevant settings I'm aware of are English for the language and GMT (Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London) for the time zone. Have I missed something?

For what it's worth, I was using channel 1 with the stock Asus firmware and still am with 374.41, but the other channels do show up as available.

All details and info are in this thread http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=9229&highlight=maximum+power

Merlin has removed the command line page where one would normally access the commands necessary due to security concerns. You will have to look in Merlin's thread 374.41 or 374.41 beta 1 so find excellent instructions for SSH-ing into the modem. It's dead easy.

The other channels may show up as available, but try changing to them with 40MHz mode set.

I'm using a special driver for the RT-N66U. If this is the price to pay to get range and throughput similar to what was with the old 2xx branch, then that's something I'm sure most people are willing to live with.

No issues here yet with comcast Native IPv6. How long has your router been up before you lost your v6 ?
